Privacy policy

This policy covers everything I make and publish: this website, my apps, my games and my YouTube channel. It explains what data each one collects, why, who else is involved, how long it’s kept, and the rights you have over it.

Last updated 7 November 2026.

Summary

I’m Michael Chambers, an individual developer based in the UK, and I’m the data controller for the products below. I don’t sell personal data, I don’t build profiles of you, and I collect as little as each product needs.

This website

  • The contact form. Your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message. They’re emailed to me so I can reply, and they aren’t stored in a database on this site.
  • Spam protection. The form uses a hidden field and a minimum time to submit to filter out automated messages. Nothing is sent to a third party for this.
  • Server logs. The hosting provider records standard request data, including IP address, browser and the page requested, to keep the site secure and running.
  • Cookies. Visitors get none. WordPress only sets cookies when I’m signed in to manage the site. Fonts and images are served from this site, so loading a page doesn’t contact a font or analytics service.
  • Videos. The Videos page shows thumbnails from YouTube. A video only loads, from youtube-nocookie.com, if you choose to play it, and Google’s privacy policy applies from that point.
  • CV downloads. Downloading my CV isn’t tracked beyond the server logs above.

Apps

PadelScorer (Android and Wear OS)

  • No account. You don’t sign in, and the app doesn’t ask for your name, email address or contacts.
  • Microphone. If you turn on voice scoring, the app listens for score commands while a match is running. Speech is turned into text by your device’s speech recognition, on the device where it’s supported. If it isn’t, or you switch voice scoring to online mode, your device’s speech service (usually Google’s) processes the audio under its own privacy policy. The app itself never records, stores or sends audio to me. You can score by tap instead and turn the microphone permission off at any time in Android settings.
  • Matches and settings. Scores, match history, team names and preferences are stored on your phone and watch only. Uninstalling the app deletes them.
  • Advertising. The free version shows one banner ad on the match history screen, never while you’re scoring. The ad is served by Google AdMob, which may use your device’s advertising ID, IP address and approximate location to choose and measure ads. Where the law requires it, you’ll be asked for consent before ads are personalised, and you can reset or delete the advertising ID in Android settings.
  • Analytics. With your consent, the app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to tell me how it’s used: which screens and match formats are used, which features such as voice scoring and tournaments get picked up, and settings such as theme and voice language. It’s linked to random identifiers, not to your name or contact details, and never includes team or player names, scores you’ve recorded or anything you say. Nothing is collected until you’ve agreed, and you can turn analytics off at any time in the app’s Settings.
  • Diagnostics. If you’ve chosen to share usage and diagnostics with Google, Google Play may send me crash and performance reports. They don’t identify you.
  • Live score links. When live score sharing is available, sharing a match will send its score and team names to the live score service so others can follow it in a browser. Nothing is shared unless you start it, and this policy will be updated with the details before the feature launches.

Other apps

Any new app I publish will be added here before it’s released, with the same level of detail. PromoForge, which appears on this site, is a private tool I run for my own channel and isn’t offered to anyone else.

Games

Jumpy Blob (Android)

  • No account. There is no sign-up or login, and the game never asks for your name, email address, contacts or location. Progress, coins, achievements and settings are stored on your device only; uninstalling deletes them.
  • Analytics and crash reports. Google Firebase receives anonymous events (runs started and ended, height and score, stage and character used, power-ups collected, coins earned and spent, ad placements shown, whether sharing was used) plus a random app-instance ID and basic device information (model, Android version, app version, language, approximate country), and crash reports. In the UK and EEA this only starts after you agree; elsewhere it is on by default. Either way you can switch it off at any time in the game’s Settings.
  • Advertising. Google AdMob shows banner, interstitial and optional rewarded ads. Because children play, every ad request is treated as child-directed: G-rated content, no personalised advertising and no remarketing. In the UK, EU and EEA the game asks for consent first (Google’s consent platform) and you can change it under Settings, then Ad Privacy Options.
  • Google Play Games. If you are signed in to Google Play Games on your device, achievements are recorded through it. I never see your Google account details.
  • Purchases. The game has no in-app purchases. Coins are earned by playing or by choosing to watch a rewarded ad.

Any other app or game I publish follows the same approach: I name what it collects and which third parties are involved in this section before it is released, and I update this page first if that changes.

Older games

I released several small games between 2011 and 2018, some under the name Microcosm Games. They’re no longer distributed, but if one is still installed on your device:

  • Mobile games may show ads served by Google AdMob and send anonymous usage analytics and crash data through Google Firebase. Game progress is stored on your device.
  • Browser games hosted on game portals such as Kongregate are covered by that portal’s own privacy policy.

Uninstalling a game removes its data from your device. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings.

YouTube channel

ChambersPlays is hosted by YouTube, so comments, likes, subscriptions and viewing data are collected and held by Google under its own privacy policy. As the channel owner I see aggregated statistics and your public channel name if you comment or subscribe publicly. I don’t export or keep that data elsewhere.

Analytics and advertising

This website doesn’t use analytics. If that changes, I’ll only use cookieless analytics that count visits without identifying you, and I’ll update this page first.

Where an app or game shows ads or uses analytics, it’s named in that product’s section above, along with what it collects. I don’t use ads or analytics to track you across other companies’ apps and websites for my own purposes, and I never sell personal data.

Lawful bases

  • Legitimate interests: replying to messages you send, keeping the site secure through server logs, and measuring basic app stability.
  • Consent: app analytics, personalised advertising where the law requires it, and the microphone permission. You can withdraw any of these at any time in the app or your device settings.

Who else is involved

  • GoDaddy hosts this website and processes server data on my behalf.
  • My email provider delivers contact form messages to my mailbox.
  • Google provides YouTube, Google Play, AdMob advertising and Firebase analytics for the products named above. For advertising, Google acts as an independent controller under its own policy at policies.google.com.

Some of these providers process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, they rely on the UK’s adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement and equivalent safeguards. I’ll share data with others only if the law requires it.

How long data is kept

  • Contact messages: up to 12 months after our last exchange, then deleted.
  • Server logs: for the short period the hosting provider keeps them for security.
  • App and game data on your device: until you delete it or uninstall the app.
  • App analytics: for the retention period set in Firebase, at most 14 months, then deleted automatically.
  • Data held by Google: under Google’s own retention settings, which you can manage from your Google account.

Children

My products are made for a general audience, and my games are enjoyed by children as well as adults. I don’t ask for or knowingly collect personal data from anyone of any age. Where a game may be played by children, ads are set to child-directed treatment (G-rated, no personalised advertising or remarketing) and analytics follows the consent rules above. Games don’t ask your age, so the stricter treatment applies to everyone. If you think a child has sent me personal data, get in touch and I’ll delete it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, and similar laws in the EEA and elsewhere, you can ask to see the personal data I hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how it’s used, and withdraw consent you’ve given. I’ll respond within one month, and there’s no charge.

If you’re unhappy with how your data has been handled, please tell me first so I can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or to the data protection authority where you live.

Security

The website is served over HTTPS, collects the minimum it needs, and is kept up to date. App data stays on your device unless you choose to share it. No system is perfectly secure, but I’ll tell you without delay if a breach affects your data.

Changes to this policy

When a product changes what it collects, this page is updated before the change goes live, and the date at the top changes with it.

Contact

For anything about this policy or your data, including requests to see or delete it, use the contact form and mention privacy in your message.
